About Vanessa.

I am a mother of three out here in the desert. I grew up in NJ and spent my 20s in New York City. Since relocating to Arizona, I have been through so many layers of transformation. Through the birth of my children, the birth of various businesses and passions and creations of all kinds, I have become an ARTIST. And the subject that inspired me most is women. I try to take family photos or capture my husband playing with his band and it just doesn't’ t feel as real. IT doesn’t feel like ART.

I first picked up the camera as a doula capturing births in the hospital. Seeing hospital birth through my camera’s lens helped me break free of the industrialized birth system and become a birth keeper. Then I photographed some epic beauty at a few women’s retreats and through a process that tortured me and spun me through many cycles of doubt, I finally claimed the title of Artist as my own. And then, a few of my pieces were accepted to an art show and it really started to settle in. I am here to break through the silence around what women’s bodies actually do. I take photographs so we can see and be moved by the female experience of bleeding, birth, death and rebirth.

The other calling that has gripped me since I became a mother is to work with women who want to claim their innate power. I completed an in-depth journey to become a teacher of Shakti Yoga and I now offer feminine embodiment experiences online and in-person. I create ceremonial spaces for women to heal the sister wound and be seen in their multi-faceted beauty.
